One week left of the Mayhem Tour, which has been a great summer vacation for MEGADETH following the recording of our upcoming album Th1rt3en, due out on November 1. The tour has given me a great opportunity to road test some more instrument designs, including my 35″ crimson red Concert bass that sounds AMAZING on low tunings in songs like ‘Hangar 18’ and the brand new Th1rt3en track “Public Enemy Number One.”

Also, you may have seen our latest creation, tentatively called the “Kellybird”. It combines a classic shape with the lower horn cutaway akin to the Kelly guitar. As with all Jackson basses, it is a smaller body but has all the cool shape of a killer rock ‘n’ roll axe. It is a bolt-on model I’m playing out here and that adds a fantastic mid-range punch that helps me re-create classic tones for songs like “Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying”.

New JS and X series basses coming in the next few weeks so stay tuned here to www.jacksonguitars.com for more details.

Rock on!
