Delta Deep, the blues-rock-n-soul side project of Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen, released their second studio album East Coast Live last month. The band, whose members include vocalist Debbi Blackwell-Cook, Crusaders drummer Forrest Robinson, and Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo, was originally brought together by Collen to satisfy his need to hear true blues music.

“Today’s musicians miss out on what blues is completely about,” said Collen on DeltaDeep.net. “There’s a type of ‘blues style’ but not actual blues music. I just don’t hear true blues anymore unless I go back and listen to really old music.”

Collen’s immense love and appreciation for blues, funk, and soul shines through in the live video for their track “Whiskey”. Premiered by GuitarWorld.com, the seventh track of East Coast Live showcases the raw talent of the quartet with Blackwell-Cook’s powerful vocals, Crusader’s smooth beat, DeLeo’s funky basslines, and Collen’s incredibly sweet solo on his beautiful Jackson USA Signature Phil Collen PC1™.
