A still from the video for "The Final Frontier" in which the protagonist meets someone familiar to Iron Maiden fans.

We don’t want to be a spoiler for the brand-new Iron Maiden video by revealing the plot, but let’s just say that you’re in for a big-budget melodic-metal epic set in outer space. And let’s also just say that Eddie is back—he’s big, he’s alien and he seems pretty pissed off! That’s all we’re going to reveal, though. You’re just going to have to visit www.ironmaiden.com if you wanna learn more, because that’s where “The Final Frontier (Director’s Cut)” video is now being shown exclusively.

The video is a combination of live action, digital graphics and 3-D animation shot in eight weeks by U.K. studio Darkside Animation Films, whose team includes animators who have worked on a bunch of high-tech films, including Lost in Space, Gladiator and Black Hawk Down.

“The Final Frontier (Director’s Cut)” is a 5-minute edit of nearly 9-minute-long opus “Satellite 15 … The Final Frontier,” which kicks off Maiden’s 15th studio album, The Final Frontier. This eagerly anticipated CD will be released Aug. 16 (Aug. 17 in North America).

Anyway, what are you waiting for? Visit www.ironmaiden.com and enjoy—just try not to spill your popcorn or soda while you’re headbanging away!
