Ellefson’s Latest Guitar World Column

By Chrissy Mauck

September 1, 2011

The September issue of Guitar World magazine features Megadeth bassist David Ellefson’s monthly “Mega Bass” column, which is loaded with valuable tips on songwriting and recording.

“I often get mail from fans and musicians asking which comes first, the music or the lyrics,” writes Ellefson. “Megadeth usually focuses on compiling individual riffs into compositions with the lyrics and vocal melodies fitting on top of that.”

Ellefson emphasizes allowing one’s creativity take flight, and suggests having a portable video recorder with you at all times because “you never know when inspiration will strike.”
