Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson caught up with our Jackson crew to talk about his ferocious new USA and Pro Series Signature Soloist™ models. The savage shredder knows what he likes in his guitars and was extremely hands-on with the development process, making sure that every detail lived up to his expectations.
With more than a year spent on R&D, Thomson made sure that his new signature axes could accommodate the heavy-duty playing that has become synonymous with his body of work, regardless of which model you pick up.
For instance, both the USA Signature Mick Thomson Soloist™ and the Pro Series Signature Mick Thomson Soloist™ SL2 feature a proprietary Jackson MTB HT6 hardtail bridge that has both the fine-tuning benefits of a Floyd Rose® while retaining the feel of a hardtail. Also included are Thomson’s ear-crushing signature Seymour Duncan® Blackouts AHB-3S pickups, inlay block side dots for easy fret reference on dark stages, single volume control, three-way blade switch, recessed barrel jack and sealed die-cast tuners.
The USA Signature Soloist™ includes a three-piece maple neck-through-body construction with mahogany body wings, while the Pro Series version has a full mahogany body and one-piece maple neck-through-body design.
