The latest installment of David Ellefson’s “Mega Bass” column in Guitar World magazine provides musicians with a wealth of music business tips.
“When it comes to teaching musicians, instructors focus on developing strong licks, chops and technique,” Ellefson writes. “The pursuit of a musical career goes beyond our work on the instrument.”
Ellefson stresses that music business executives are more impressed by musicians’ ability to draw crowds than by their chops, because “at the end of the day, industry people want to know that artists have an audience that will buy records, tickets and products.”
