Megadeth bassist David Ellefson has announced that his autobiography – My Life With Deth – will be released on Oct. 29 through Howard Books.
Ellefson penned the tome last year with the assistance of writer Joel McIver, and it delves deep into his personal story, covering his descent into addiction early in his career, his recovery and his return to a Christian faith. He also talks about his studies to become a Lutheran pastor and his current work with MEGA Life! Ministries.
“My autobiography is not the usual tale of rock ‘n’ roll woe, but rather something I hope will truly inspire people,” Ellefson said in a statement. “I have dedicated my life to my craft, and I wanted to share the story of how a kid with a bass guitar and the dream of rock stardom literally risked it all to move from the farm in Minnesota to Los Angeles, and with a lot of hard work, sacrifice and a little luck along the way, made the dream come true.”
Megadeth is set to embark on Gigantour on July 3 in Guilford, N.H., along with Black Label Society, Device, Hellyeah, Newsted and Death Division.
