The Surfcaster is back.
When Jackson first launched the Surfcaster in the early ’90s, it was an outlier in every sense. Known for aggressive, metal-ready guitars, Jackson suddenly introduced a model with a semi-hollow body, lipstick pickups and offset curves. Designed in Japan and aimed at surf rock, alt, and jangly guitar tones, it quickly gained cult status among players.
Then, as suddenly as it arrived, it disappeared by the late ’90s.
In 2025, Jackson has brought the Surfcaster™ back, bolder and more versatile than ever. This time, the reissue spans three distinct versions: the JS Series, X Series, and the Pro Series Signature Lee Malia LM-87 Model.
The JS Series Surfcaster offers a sleek, affordable take on the design, loaded with high-output humbuckers and clean aesthetics.

The X Series cranks up the modern playability, with 6- and 7-string options, compound-radius fingerboards, and tonal flexibility that extends well beyond surf and indie into prog, metal, and beyond.

The Lee Malia LM-87 Signature Surfcaster offers a more aggressive and refined take on the classic offset body. Unlike the original semi-hollow design, the LM-87 features a solid okoume body with a glued-in maple neck, delivering increased sustain and resonance. Its pickup configuration—a Jackson P-90 in the neck and a custom humbucker in the bridge—provides a wide tonal range, from warm cleans to thick, cutting distortion. Visually, it stands out with a worn open-pore black finish and aged brass hardware. Designed in collaboration with Bring Me the Horizon guitarist Lee Malia, the LM-87 bridges vintage aesthetics with modern performance, making it a versatile choice for players across heavier and more dynamic genres.
