Looks like Jackson signature artist Misha Mansoor has returned to the studio with his progressive metal band Periphery to record their fourth studio album.
In a recent post on Facebook, Mansoor wrote that he is “so happy with the Periphery III material thus far. Writing with everyone has been so much fun as well! I already can’t wait to put this out.”
Bassist Adam “Nolly” Getgood also shared in the excitement, stating, “It feels like everyone is really on the same wavelength. I can’t wait for people to hear the new songs — we’re exploring a lot of new territory for Periphery, I’m very excited to hear the results once the whole process is finished.”
As for that new territory, after the jump below is a recent clip of Mansoor experimenting with some new sounds, and then another of his bandmates “changing things up a bit.” Keep an eye on Mansoor’s Facebook page for other “top secret” updates.
The new effort will drop in early summer on Sumerian Records, just in time for the recently announced “Periphery Summer Jam.” Set for July 25-29, it’s a four-day interactive experience with the band in Big Indian, NY, that features a series of instrumental and songwriting clinics mixed with exclusive live performances.
“We’re going to give you an in-depth look at our songwriting process, what we do in the studio and on tour,” said guitarist Mark Holcomb. “We also just kind of wanted to hang out with our fans.”
