August 1, 2016

Pavillon webzine interviewed Trivium’s Corey Beaulieu after the band’s performance at the Download festival in Paris in June,  and it’s now available online for fans to watch.

The nine-minute interview covered a wide range of topics that included Beaulieu’s inspirations, the band’s tour habits, writing on the road and the challenges young bands face breaking onto the scene.

Beaulieu explained Trivium’s evolving creative process, and why they no longer try to write new material on the road.

“We used to write on tour, but there’s so much other stuff going on and so many distractions, it’s kind of hard to focus on writing,” he said. “Maybe if you’re warming up for a show, you might stumble upon an idea that you will remember, but we tend to nowadays… We don’t write on tour anymore. We just kind of enjoy playing shows, hanging out where we’re at. We usually go out and try to find good local restaurants and eat. It kind of helps, ’cause we just kind of enjoy touring and the whole experience. When we have breaks off tour, we do a lot of writing.”

Trivium is currently performing at several summer festivals, including the highly anticipated Ozzfest Meets Knotfest in September. View all of Trivium’s upcoming performances here.
