Gama Music in Monterrey, Mexico, and Multielectronica in Mexico City recently hosted “Shred and events that featured artist performances and a “Shred and Destroy” contest to bring out the best shredders Mexico has to offer.
Both dealers showcased 2013 products and eager customers were treated to performances by Jackson artist Tonio Ruiz and special guest Jair Rivas.
More than 40 guitar players from all over Mexico entered to showcase their chops in the Shred and Destroy contest at the end of each event. The players were given 30 seconds to shred, and the recorded performances were whittled down to a final three before Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian chose a winner.
The champion was Marco Lascano of Monterrey.
“I chose Marco because I felt he played different techniques really, really well. He was very fluent and an amazing player. Congratulations to the other guys as well, all were great,” said Ian.
In addition, Marco Antonio Leal finished second overall and Miles Zappa placed third.
