In addition to the original Alice Cooper group (with guitarist Steve Hunter filling in for the late Glen Buxton), performers included Loaded (Duff McKagan), Devildriver, Asking Alexandra (with guest Sebastian Bach), Volbeats, Fozzy and more.

Presenters and other guests included Scott Ian (Anthrax, the Damned Things), Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Rob Zombie, Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez (Alice in Chains), Vinnie Paul (Pantera, Hellyeah), Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold), Robb Flynn (Machine Head), Taylor Momsen (Pretty Reckless), Brendon Small of (Dethlok), Yngwie Malmsteen, Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers), William Shatner, Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell) and many more.

It was a big night for Avenged Sevenfold. Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance took the best guitarist award; M. Shadows took the best vocalist award, and the group took the album of the year award for Nightmare. Best live band went to Rammstein, and best new band went to Black Veil Brides. Shatner took home an honorary headbanger award.
